“American Idol” is down to its final five performers and Kinnelon native Elise Testone is not one of them.
Testone’s unexpectedly long run through “Idol” ended last night when she was eliminated. Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, Skylar Laine and Hollie Cavanagh are the Top 5, who will compete to be Season 11’s Idol.
Jimmy Iovine was critical of Testone’s song choices Wednesday night.
“Elise has a problem,” Iovine said. “She’s a great singer [who] made bad choices.”
When the clip of Iovine’s comments finished, Testone told Ryan Seacrest, “I just can’t win.”
Seacrest told her she still could, but moments later, when it was down to Testone and Cavanagh, he broke the news. The audience booed and Testone received a standing ovation from the judges and the crowd.
Despite clearly being emotional about the results, she pulled it together to repeat the song that was her best performance of the competition, Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.”
